Can my loft be converted

Most lofts can be converted as long as there is enough headroom. Bespoke loft conversions can give you advice on the best type of loft conversion for your property, where the stairs will be positioned and any changes to the plumbing system.

The traditional rafter which is the older type of roof is much easier to convert as it has  the headroom required. The majority of houses built before the 60's will have the traditional rafter roof.

The modern trussed roof can also be converted as long as there is a over two metres of headroom halfway across the loft.

What is a Mansard Loft Conversion

Mansard loft conversions are constructed to the rear of your property which has a flat roof, with the back wall sloping inwards at an angle of 72 degrees. The advantage of a mansard roof creates a much larger space and often allows more space for the staircase.

Mansards are most common on older houses, and popular type of loft conversion in London, planning permission will almost certainly be required for this type of conversion.
